Hedgerow Talk

What is a hedgerow and why is it important? Come learn more about Urban Bounty's hedgerow project at the Cook Community Garden, how it can help deter pests and provide food and habitat for beneficial insects.
This talk will be lead by Connor Hawey, a Research and Field Technician with Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust (DFWT).
Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Soil Monitoring and Farmland Research

Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust has recently begun monitoring soil conditions within Grassland Set-Aside, Blueberry Rest, and Cover Crop fields. These monitoring efforts aim to quantify the impacts of stewardship practices in relation to water-holding capacity, compaction, infiltration, and other soil health measures.
Learn more about the process of soil sampling, as well as the impacts of beneficial management practices on farmland.
Snow Goose and Waterfowl Research

Come visit us at Brunswick Point in a couple weeks for a Field Tech Talk which focuses on DFWTs research of Snow Geese and other waterfowl 🦆
We will talk about our research and monitoring of waterfowl including their impact on cover crop fields and how we are using audio recorders to monitor fields throughout the day and night.
This event is free, but space is limited. Please sign up if you are interested in attending.
Planting a Hedgerow and Year-Round Bird Monitoring

Visit us at a hedgerow that has been newly planted by DFWT at Hawthorne Grove Park in Delta! We will be talking about the research and monitoring of birds that accompanies our stewardship programs.
We will talk about the different techniques we use to monitor different habitats, from hedgerows to grassland set-asides, to cover crop fields and forage fields.
Pollinator Set Asides and Summer Research

Come be a part of our first Field Tech Talk on September 14th at one of our flowering Grassland Set-Asides to learn all about the insect research we have been involved in this year.
Learn the methods used to conduct insect surveys and see the equipment we use to collect our data.
This event is free, but space is limited. Please sign up if you are interested in attending.
