Cover Crop Program

Available In:

Metro Vancouver and Abbotsford

Agriculture fields are cover cropped with spring and winter cereals to help maintain soil productivity by preventing erosion from winter rain and wind, and by increasing organic matter in the soil. Plantings also provide ecosystem services for the community by protecting the local food supply and recreational fields, and by providing services like flood management, water filtration, and wildlife conservation.

Blueberry Rest Cover Crop Program

Available In:

Metro Vancouver and Abbotsford

Blueberry fields which have had plants removed are cover cropped with spring and winter cereals to help maintain soil productivity by preventing erosion from winter rain and wind, increasing organic matter in the soil, and preparing the soil for future blueberry plantings.

Cereal Habitat Enhancement Program

Available In:

Delta

Spring cereals are planted for the purpose of soil conservation and wildlife habitat enhancement in Delta BC. Spring-seeded cereals have the ability to re-establish as winter cover crops when residual seed is adequately re-distributed after the summer harvest.

Forage Enhancement Program

Available In:

Delta

Forage fields are enhanced through re-seeding or over-seeding for the purposes of soil conservation and wildlife habitat enhancement

Laser Leveling Program

Project Deadline: October 31st

Available In:

Delta

Agriculture fields are contoured and graded for better surface water runoff and drainage, and to reduce soil erosion.

Application Deadline is November 1st.  

Soil Amendment Program

Project Deadline: October 30th

Available In:

Delta

Soil amendments are applied to the field to improve soil quality.  

Application Deadline is November 1st. Apply before starting your project.

Hedgerow Program

Available In:

Metro Vancouver and Abbotsford

Native trees, shrubs, and grasses are planted on the edges of fields to provide habitat for birds and pollinators and reduce wind erosion.
