Blueberry Rest Cover Crop Program

Blueberry fields which have had plants removed are cover cropped with spring and winter cereals to help maintain soil productivity by preventing erosion from winter rain and wind, increasing organic matter in the soil, and preparing the soil for future blueberry plantings.

Blueberry Rest Set-Aside Program

Blueberry fields that are left with bare soil following the removal of blueberry plants are planted as pollinator set-asides with flowers, grasses and broad-leaved plants, then left to rest for up to 4 years. The resting fields are replenished with vital nutrients over time while supporting pollinators.

Cereal Habitat Enhancement Program

Delta

Spring cereals are planted for the purpose of soil conservation and wildlife habitat enhancement in Delta BC. Spring-seeded cereals have the ability to re-establish as winter cover crops when residual seed is adequately re-distributed after the summer harvest.

Cover Crop Program

Agriculture fields are cover cropped with spring and winter cereals to help maintain soil productivity by preventing erosion from winter rain and wind, and by increasing organic matter in the soil. Plantings also provide ecosystem services for the community by protecting the local food supply and recreational fields, and by providing services like flood management, water filtration, and wildlife conservation.

Field Margin Program

Planting and managing field margins with native flowers, grass, and broad-leaved plants to promote grassland habitat and soil stability supports the planting of along farm field margins and irrigation channels.

Forage Enhancement Program

Forage fields are enhanced through re-seeding or over-seeding for the purposes of soil conservation and wildlife habitat enhancement

Grassland Set-Aside Program

Agriculture fields are planted with flowers, grasses and broad-leaved plants, and left to rest for up to 4 years. The resting fields are replenished with vital nutrients over time, while providing food and homes for birds, pollinators, and small mammals.

Hedgerow Program
